Money and communications: Six banks operate at the arrival lobby providing currency exchange facilities. A post office is also available. Telephone booths can be found in the arrival, departure and transit areas. A communications counter is located in the transit lounge with international direct dialling and fax facilities. Eating and drinking: A restaurant run by Sri Lankan Airlines is located in the transit lounge and serves local and international cuisine. Another restaurant that serves snacks, meals and hot and cold beverages is located in the departure lobby. Shopping: Several duty-free shops are available in the arrival and departure halls selling a variety of products, including electrical and electronic items, wines and spirits, handicrafts, silk items, jewellery, perfumes and teas. Luggage: Travellers visiting Sri Lanka for up to 45 days can take advantage of the airport’s bond baggage facility (tel: 112 252 861, ext 3019). The baggage will be checked by customs and airport security and will then be sealed and transferred to the departure terminal where it will be stored until your next flight. Inquiries about lost luggage should be directed either to the information desk or to the airline office. Other facilities: A first aid centre staffed with qualified nurses is located in the arrival immigration area. Fully air-conditioned day rooms with attached toilets are available in the arrival and departure halls for transit passengers who wish to stretch out and rest. Eating and drinking: Excellent restaurants and self-service cafeterias are located on the ground floor and first floor of the passenger terminal.
Shopping: The duty-free shops on the first floor in the departure area offer a wide range of goods such as cigarettes, liquor, perfumes, cosmetics, books, stationery, clothing, toys, electronics, confectionery, flowers and souvenirs. Special souvenir shops are located in the departure and transit lounges. A flower shop can be found just opposite the post office. The airport’s pharmacy is located just outside the first aid office, next to the Bank of Maldives airport branch.
Luggage: A 24-hour lost and found counter can be found in the security office in the departure lounge.
Other facilities: The airport has shower rooms for use by travellers. A health care centre for first aid and minor health emergencies is available at the terminal building. A special care service is available for expectant mothers and newly born babies. Travellers should contact the airport’s public relation officer at the information counter about this. Bengaluru International Airport opened on the 24 May 2008, taking over all commercial flights operating out of Bangalore International Airport (HAL). A high-speed electric train is planned to connect the airport with the city, but no date of completion has been announced. A new express toll road is also planned to connect the airport to the city’s ring road at Hennur.

Airport News
A massive expansion project has started at the airport. A new terminal and runway are under construction and scheduled for completion in 2010. This is expected to increase capacity to 37 million passengers a year. More terminals and runways are planned thereafter, however, and the airport authorities are expecting a capacity of 100 million passengers a year by 2026.

Transfer Between Terminals
The International Terminal (Terminal 2) is about 5km (3 miles) away from the Domestic Terminal (Terminal 1) at Palam. There is a free transfer shuttle between the terminals. Indian Airlines, Jet Airways and Air India also operate a free shuttle running 24 hours; information counters are situated in the Arrivals areas of both terminals.

Transfer Between Terminals
The airport terminals are spread over two different locations 4km (2.5 miles) apart in the north of Mumbai. Terminal 2 is located at Sahar, and deals with international flights. Terminal 1, which deals with domestic flights only, is located at Santa Cruz. Free inter-terminal coach services transfer passengers between the terminals every 20 minutes during the day.

The airport is well signposted from Mumbai.
Car Parking
Car parking is available at both terminals. There are some 3,600 spaces in total, with premium and standard car parks available at both terminals.
Car Hire
Car hire companies are operated by private agencies and can be found in the Arrivals halls of both terminals.
Public Transport
Rail: A railway reservation counter is situated in Terminal 2, for connections to the metro rail system; trains run to the nearby airport Mumbai CST Terminus (formerly known as the Victoria Terminus) and Churchgate for connections to Mumbai and destinations throughout India.
Road: Bus: A city bus service to Mumbai and a pre-paid coach service to destinations in the southern states are available. Intercity coach services can be booked in the Arrivals areas of Terminal 2.
Taxi: Pre-paid taxis, metered taxis and motor rickshaws are available at the airport (journey time to the city centre – 90-180 minutes).
Information and Help Desks
A meet and greet counter is located in Terminal 1B. There are also tourist information counters.
Airport Facilities
Money and communications: Telecommunications centres, offering telephones, fax, Internet and photocopying, are located in both terminals. There are also telephones, hotel reservation counters, bureaux de change, ATMs and postal services throughout both terminals. Wireless Internet access is available free of charge in both terminals.
Eating and drinking: There are restaurants, snack bars, tea, cold drinks and coffee vending booths, bars, ice cream and chocolate shops at the airport. A cyber cafe is also available.
Shopping: Duty-free is available in Terminal 2. There is also a pharmacy at the airport.
Luggage: Left-luggage facilities are available in both terminals.
Other facilities: These include First Aid and medical services, child care rooms and special snoozer chairs.
Conference and Business Facilities
There is a business centre and executive lounges in the Departures areas of both terminals. Facilities include Internet access, a fax machine and a shoe polishing machine. Airlines provide business class lounges and there is a designated executive lounge. There are also extensive conference and banqueting and business facilities available at the nearby Leela Kempinski Hotel (tel: (022) 6691 1234; website: www.theleela.com).
Facilities for Disabled Travellers
There are lifts between floors, as well as disabled toilets and disabled parking at the airport. Wheelchairs are also available from the airlines on request; passengers requiring special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel. Free assistance to disabled passengers is available.

The Leela Kempinski Hotel (tel: (022) 6691 1234; website: www.theleela.com) is 1.5km (1 mile) from Terminal 2 and 7km (4 miles) from Terminal 1. The hotel runs a shuttle service to/from the airport. Other nearby hotels with a courtesy shuttle service include the Orchid Ecotel Hotel (tel: (022) 2616 4040; website: www.orchidhotel.com) and the Midland Hotel Mumbai (tel: (022) 2611 0414; website: www.hotelmidland.com). Accommodation can be booked at the airport; passengers can also arrange to be picked up and taken to their destination.
